What better way to start the Christmas season...

...than with a GIVEAWAY!

I just read an awesome book called Hundred Dollar Holiday by Bill McKibben. I realize it that it's kind of ironic that I'm posting this on Black Friday, a day focused on shopping. I promise it wasn't intentional. It just seemed apropos now that the Christmas season has officially begun.

This wonderful book is all about redefining the way we celebrate Christmas - without the stress, without the debt. It's not preachy, there's no guilt, no lecture. It's about a return to simplicity and celebration - without all the 'stuff' (or at least not so much stuff). You don't have to do the 'Hundred Dollar Holiday' - you adapt the principles however you want to your life. It's short - you could read it in a hour or so. It has a message that is beneficial to anyone. I loved it. And I want to give it to you.

Here's how you can get your hands on my copy of this book:

1. Leave a comment. Tell me your favorite Christmas tradition or what kind of handmade gifts you've given in the past.

2. For an extra entry, you can either write about my giveaway on your personal blog or put my blog button in your sidebar -- if you do both, you get two extra entries.

If you go for the extra entry options, be sure to let me know in your comment (or leave me another comment) so I can keep track. I will randomly choose the winners on December 4, a week from today.

Easy as pie. (mmmm....pie. Love those leftovers...)

my favorite handmade gift has been creating sets of blank cards. Like a set with my spring flower prints, or Christmas candy ones.

And a tradition I'm anxious to start with my little family, is The Elf on The Shelf. If you haven't heard of it, read this blog. It will crack you up. Scroll down to number 6.

Thanks Heather for all that you share!

We had a simple manger scene that my sis and mom made out of clay (the manger made from twigs). All Dec, when we did kind deeds for each other, we added hay to the manger so it would be soft for baby Jesus on Christmas Day.

Our Christmas tradition is going to Christmas Eve service. Ending with candles and singing Silent Night is a great reason to get ready for all of the 'craziness.'

This year we started a new tradition. We went to the Downtown Oklahoma City (where we live) tree lighting ceremony. They had hot cocoa and caroling along with a surprise visit from Santa! It was a fun way to start the Christmas season and we look forward to going next year

Holy cow I just realized I haven't entered your giveaway yet! :)

I'm all about the homemade gifts this year! An apron for my mother in law, grandparent's toyboxes, I'm stealing some of my sisters' old shirts and giving them a new look for part of their gift, Noah is getting lots of Mommy-made pj pants. We are trying to not spend as much money this year but make them personal. I hope it goes well :)

This book would be so fun! I'm hoping over to read your review right now. :) We had fun hangin with you guys Saturday! We keep talkin' about how cute Max was with Noah :) They are TOTALLY going to be best friends! lol

Also! I'm gonna go ahead and post about your giveaway on my blog. I don't know how many people read it...lol but I'll go ahead and do it anyways. This will be much more effective once I get my cooking blog up. :) Maybe that should be my goal this week...

I just love decorating the Christmas tree while listening to Christmas music. However, this year we are starting a new tradtion with the Elf on the Shelf. I reuse paper bags by turning them inside out and having my son color on them and then use them to wrap gifts for his grandparents. They love it! I also starting making applesauce last year.
